Meet TCT’s founder:

Founder’s words: “Thanks to my parents for giving me life, thanks to my teachers for giving me knowledge, thanks to my employers for giving me experiences, thanks to my guests for giving me property, thanks to my donors for giving me charities and thanks to Buddha for giving me peace in mind.”

BOREYBorey is the founder of TCT – Trusted Cambodia Tours. He founded TCT in 2008 after he left a leading Japanese owned travel company called APEX Cambodia Travel Services Co., Ltd branch of APEX International based in Tokyo, Japan. He spent seven years working for APEX and one year working for a leading four-star hotel in 1999 called City Angkor Hotel (former Nokor Koukthouk Hotel).  After that, Borey spent about one year as a tour guide for English-speaking travellers. At APEX he was in charge of European and American markets and later he was appointed as one of the management team.

His entrepreneurship, talent, and charity helped him to decide to leave APEX in late 2006. Borey, Tom & DanaAfter researching Cambodia tourism, in 2008 he realized his dream of becoming an entrepreneur by founding a local tour operator called TCT – Trusted Cambodia Tours, which he first focused on a niche market. Malaysian and Singaporean tourists have occupied more than 50% of his whole market, while Americans and Europeans have placed 40% and the rest come from a host of countries.  Even though his working schedule is a bit tight, he always personally welcomes his guests. He likes spending his time talking with his clients when they are in Cambodia. The common topics of conversation with his guests include Cambodia tourism, the services he offers – the knowledge of the guide, the comfort of the vehicle, the behaviour and skill of the driver, the foods in the hotel and restaurants, understanding culture, Cambodian history, Cambodian economics and much more. The knowledge he received from his Masters degree at Build Bright University make him a wealth of knowledge. Sixty-percent of his guests like get involved in his charity project to improve a community called Reul, located about 25 Kilometers Northwest of Angkor Wat.  About 14,000 people live there.Borey & Tom

Borey, Roman & ElinaAt TCT, Borey offers something more than other, bigger tour operators. Special care and utmost attention for his customers are his priorities. He makes TCT different from other tour operators in terms of service and way of caring. Borey clearly understands that his clients pay money to have a remarkable trip. Therefore, he must do his best to take them to this level. He knows that their expectations are to stay in a nice hotel, eat in tasty restaurants, be guided by a knowledgeable and reputable tour guide, visit the most attractive sites, ride on a comfortable vehicle and pay a reasonable price.

About Borey’s Charity Work:
Borey & Malaysian PartnersAfter succeeding in running his travel agency, in 2009, Borey realized one more  of his dreams by founding CAMDOC (Cambodia Development Organization for Children), an officially registered local NGO (non-government organization). CAMDOC’s vision is to bring rural Cambodian people to live better lives and to totally eliminate starvation and lack of access to health and medical care.  CAMDOC is also focused on education, food security, safe water, and better-paid jobs, which are the root causes of today’s poverty for Cambodia. In order to realize this vision, CAMDOC defines its first projects based on its small available budget. Today’s projects include improving community hygiene and medical care, creating safe water supplies, and teaching language, computers, and sewing skills.  CAMDOC also works to help children be adopted and sponsored for school.

The biggest part of CAMDOC’s fund is from Cambodia Child Aid, Germany, the rest is from TCT’s clients. If you wish to help improve CAMDOC, be a special guest with TCT.  CAMDOC needs much more money to realize Borey’s goal of helping improve his community. Please refer to www.camdocaid.org for more information (the website is still under construction).
